Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation was established as a family charitable trust in 1962 and is now one of the larger family foundations in Australia, having distributed more than $90 million since establishment.
The torch lit by Sir Vincent and Lady Fairfax continues in the family today. Their four children have all contributed to the work of VFFF and a third generation, their grandchildren, has emerged to continue family philanthropy into the future.
Vision
In honouring our founders' beliefs and intentions, VFFF seeks opportunities to benefit and care for Australians and our country.
Mission
To harness the generosity of the Vincent Fairfax family, VFFF makes distributions to charitable organisations with a particular focus on NSW and north eastern Australia. We also seek out organisations at the national level which are engaged in work for the benefit of and care for our country and which are consistent with the guidelines.
VFFF makes distributions to organisations which seek to address the general needs in the community with an emphasis on those which are unable to rely on high profile fundraising from the corporate sector and the general public.
The future of children and young people is of particular interest as are the special needs of Australians living beyond the major metropolitan centres particularly in rural and outback Australia.
In our work we are also concerned about the spiritual health of the nation and the relevance of Christian faith in action.
VFFF seeks to promote the long-term wellbeing of indigenous Australians through support for innovative and practical educational and health programs.
In accordance with specific criteria and subject to the availability of funds, proposals are considered under the following themes:
- Children and young people
- Rural and regional Australian
- Christianity
- Community
